Windfields Community Garden is a project sponsored by the Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities (fbsc.org) a not for profit organization with a mission to cultivate sustainable sensibilities and a mandate to preserve and repair the environment.

The windfields community garden is situated on a 10 acre parcel of land in Oshawa, Ontario and is being used as a community garden, where plots are rented on a seasonal basis.  The 2011 cost is $45.00 for a single plot and $60.00 for a double plot.  The cost is for the season, May to October annually.

Community Open House

Windfields Community & Teaching Gardens is happy to participate in the first annual Durham Integrated Growers (DIG) Community Garden Open House. The Garden is located at 2951 Simcoe Street N, and will be open for visitors on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m..  The following activities will be offered:

• Cooking with weeds: 12:30 to 1:00 pm

• Garden Tour & Trivia: Ongoing

• Victory Garden presentation: 10:45 to 11:00 am

• Prizes and Giveaways: 1:30 to 2:00 pm (for trivia)

We will be taking pictures of the event and interviewing visitors.
